Villa San Cristóbal

Lago Carite

Guayama, PUERTO RICO

2016

Villa San Cristóbal de Carite is a private and sustainable second home located in Lago Carite, Guayama, Puerto Rico. The house exemplifies weathered steel (corten), structural steel, concrete, and green construction /material systems through its architecture. The house slopes towards the lake, allowing the design team to maximize its efforts towards the orientation and pad elevation. Furthermore, Villa San Cristobal de Carite intends to make use of passive ventilation systems, a view of the lake, and solar illumination. The house also contains strategically designed green walls and uses recollected rainwater from its butterfly roof for irrigation and domestic purposes.
